    Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated

2011 & 2012 South Central Region Chapter of the Year

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by and for African American college-trained women. Founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC in 1908, the members of this prestigious organization are committed to developing leaders, serving the community, providing scholarships, educational assistance, and ensuring that the Sorority is fully engaged in achieving its goals through Global Leadership Through Timeless Service.

The local chapter, Beta Psi Omega was chartered on May 7, 1938.  Beta Psi Omega is the graduate chapter located in the capitol city of Austin, Texas which oversees the undergraduate chapters at the University of Texas at Austin, Delta Xi chapter and Huston Tillotson University, Beta Kappa chapter.  Historically, the members of our chapter have been deeply rooted in the foundation of the Austin community in the fields of education, civil and social rights, and economic development. The current membership truly represents the heart of the black community, and we proudly reflect some of Austin's most elegant, educated, and empowered women. With a spirit of service and sisterhood, we will continue to dedicate ourselves to improving the economic and social status of the greater Austin community, and seek new and innovative opportunities to grow more!

We welcome and encourage members of Alpha Kappa Alpha with pink hearts and green arms who are relocating to Austin to come and experience the spirit and enthusiasm of our dynamic chapter.   We are committed to education, sisterhood, and partnerships and we will continue to support the greater Austin community and provide a commitment of service to all mankind.

    Sisterly,

    Brigid Ann Roberson, President
